Our Mission

The All in Alabama initiative, spearheaded by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education (ACHE), is a comprehensive statewide effort aimed at retaining both current and former Alabama graduates, with the goal of cultivating a highly-skilled and educated workforce within the state. To effectively address the needs of different student segments, the initiative comprises three distinct programs, each tailored to target specific groups of current and former students.

The initial program within the initiative is Retain Alabama, focusing on recent graduates. By keeping these qualified individuals in Alabama, the initiative seeks to enhance the state’s educational attainment levels and bolster its workforce capacity. Ultimately, this will lead to a stronger economy and an improved quality of life for all residents of Alabama.

The second segment, Recall Alabama, is specifically designed for graduates who have relocated elsewhere. This program aims to reconnect with these individuals, raise their awareness of the abundant opportunities available in Alabama, and ultimately entice them to return to the state.

Lastly, (Re)Engage Alabama concentrates on individuals aged 25 and above who either did not complete or never commenced a degree. The primary purpose of this segment is to eliminate academic and financial barriers, offering support and assistance to obtain relevant credentials and complete their educational qualifications.

Retain Alabama

As part of the 2022 state education budget, legislators assigned $800,000 towards a fresh initiative called “Retain Alabama,” aimed at familiarizing college students with the various prospects available to them in the Yellowhammer state.

Also included in this component of the initiative is to promote students’ awareness of the abundant job prospects within the state of Alabama, highlight the increasing demand for individuals with degrees as a result of the advancing technologies, and foster the presence of internships and cooperative education (co-op) programs within the state by promoting business partnerships.

Recall Alabama

Recall Alabama utilizes data mining services to identify former graduates who have relocated from the state and are inclined to return. Based on consumer profiles, these individuals are targeted through direct marketing campaigns conducted in collaboration with institutional alumni and workforce development groups.

(Re)Engage Alabama

The (Re)Engage Alabama Grant Program was made possible through the Alabama Act 2023-539 to increase the number of Alabama adults with college degrees, to encourage adults who have earned some college credit hours to return to college and complete a college degree program connected with the workforce development needs aligned with Alabama’s high demand occupation list, and to establish a grant program that will provide financial assistance to adult learners for postsecondary education in the state of Alabama.
