The new group is referred to as BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions and is wholly owned by BASF. BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions will operate globally in over 15 countries and comprise of approximately 20 production sites and over 4,000 employees.We are seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist at our Huntsville Alabama manufacturing facility. This position involves working with two other EHS professionals in the direct support of the Environmental Safety and Industrial Hygiene EHS programs.As an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist, you create chemistry by…Managing the Environmental and Industrial Hygiene Safety programs for the site by developing and updating environmental, recycling, and industrial hygiene plans and using your problem-solving skills to lead innovative solutions Lead the site's precious metals waste recycling process.Maintain and monitor EHS compliance programs while optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of the programs. Provide governance and oversight of EHS programs related to Environmental compliance and industrial hygiene. Lead and/or participate in investigation and root cause analysis for accident/ incidents as needed. Participate in capital project and process hazards analysis reviews consistent with the level of EHS expertise needed.Prepare training materials & deliver training for various safety topics.Provide input to EHS Team and interface with regulatory agencies, as needed, on compliance and/or enforcement issues. Actively participate with the EHS Community across the CC Division.Qualifications – BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalentYour Formula for SuccessBS Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Science or Engineering is required. Certified Safety Professional is preferred, but not required. Direct experience in chemical manufacturing plants preferred with an emphasis on environmental compliance and industrial hygiene. Experience with hazard recognition, job hazard analysis and Process Hazards Analysis is a plus. Five or more years' experience in implementing safety and industrial hygiene programs in a manufacturing plant preferred. Seasoned computer skills (ex. Spreadsheets, word processing, database management) essential. Use of Stature system a plus.
